Ms. Harvey’s 5th Class have been measuring the perimeter  of classroom furniture.

 



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Beast from the East provided some interesting learning opportunities.

Ms. Harvey’s Class gathered snow and tested to see which insulators keep the snow frozen for the longest time.

 


2nd Class have been mini engineers and designed a system to protect an egg from cracking or breaking from a high wall.

 


5th Class participated in the RDS Primary Science Fair with a project investigating where in the school the most germs can be found. 

Well done girls!

 

 

 

 


Ms. Shovlin’s Class participated in a ‘Holly Hunt’ recently in the school garden.

Maths week was a great success, each class decorated a flower or mini beast for our ‘Maths Garden’. Each child in the school was given a login password for www.mangahigh.com and the girls logged on during the week to play maths games.


 

Science Fair

 

 

 

The school held a very successful Science Fair recently and each class had an experiment from a different strand of the science curriculum on show. 4th, 5th and 6th classes did projects for the INTEL Mini Scientist Competition. One project from 6th class will proceded to the next round of the competition.


 

 

 

 

2nd Class recently planted daffodils in the school garden and acorns in small pots in the classroom.

Ms. McCrea’s Class released their beautiful butterflies on the week of the Easter Holidays.

Testing acids and bases in Ms. Shovlin’s Class using litmus paper. 

We tested a variety of liquids to see what their pH was including tea, lemon juice, Pepsi, water, Mi Wadi, sugary water and salty water.

Many classes have been learning about capacity recently and used various measuring instruments as part of maths.

Sixth Classes visited Cabra Library as part of Engineer’s Week. The girls were given an opportunity to ask questions and experiment with equipment which civil engineers in Dublin City Council use.

Ms. O’Brien’s 3rd Class have been getting their hands dirty while planting some vegetables from the ‘Sow n Grow’ kit.

5th Class visited the Design Hub in Dublin Castle and participated in a tour and workshop based on Arckit: Mini Modular Homes. The girls were given an opportunity to design and make their own home in groups.
