We had a great day of celebration for our Yellow Flag on Friday, 21st of June. Ms. Henry raised the flag and we sang some lovely songs and did some great dancing as part of the celebration. A big thank you to Ms. Haverty, Ms. Bourke and the Diversity Committee for all the hard work.
We are so delighted to be part of the Little Miss Tessa fundraising efforts. A huge thank you to our girls who participated in a run, the staff who took part in the Mini Marathon and all who were part of the Bake Sale. We raised €12,000! Well done to all!
We are busy preparing tomato plants and hoping to transfer them to the garden very soon.
The Active Committee have busy been preparing for Active Week.
They have come up with some great slogans including;
- Go Run, Have Some Fun!
- Don’t Eat Chips, Go Outside and Move your Hips!
- It’s a Sunny Day, Go Out and Play!
Ms. Heeney’s Class have been busy making doll houses using recycled materials including old election posters.

Ms. O’Brien’s Class have been busy keeping an eye on their hatching chicks. Many have now hatched and are ready for new life on the farm.
5th Classes visited the Hugh Lane Gallery recently for a workshop.
Mairéad from Heritage in Schools came in to all classes to speak about Marine Life on Dublin Bay.
Ms. Padden’s Class and Ms. Shovlin’s Class were delighted to invite mothers into the school for a special ‘Afternoon Tea’ to receive lovely artwork which the girls made.

On Friday, 29th of March the Green Schools Committee and 3rd/4th Class went outside and participated in the An Taisce National Spring Clean initiative.
We must try to keep our area litter free.
Ms. Shovlin’s Class had great fun in the Botanic Gardens taking part in the ‘Delve Deeper’ workshop.
A huge congratulations to Ms. Heeney’s 6th Class who set up their own business selling Beauty Bags.

Our school was delighted to have the Justice Candle in the Prayer Room today. This candle is raising awareness of Climate Change in many parishes and we were very fortunate to have it in our school today. All classes wrote actions we can take on footprints to be displayed in the local church.
Ms. Kealy and Ms. Heeney’s Classes were delighted to attend a dance workshop in ‘The Bogies’ as part of International Women’s Day.
Ms. Heeney’s Class have been very busy getting their ‘Beauty Bags’ ready for sale.
Ms. Shovlin’s Class have planted peas and strawberries as part of the Incredible Edibles Project.
6th Classes had a great time at the ESB Science Blast with their projects.

They taught us how to do many different workouts without using any equipment.

We were delighted to come Runner-Up in the final of the Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards in the Mansion House for all our environmental work and improving the local area.
What a day in the Phoenix Park!
Ms. Shovlin’s Class and Ms. Bourke’s Class found a squirrel stash, deer beds, acorns and much more… Thanks to Mairéad Stack for the amazing workshop.
Ms. Shovlin’s Class visited the Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun and participated in a Litter and Waste Workshop which was sponsored by WEE Recycling Ireland. Pupils had an opportunity to play games in which they picked the correct bin, they guessed how long it takes various items to decompose and they finished up by making crafts using recycled materials.
Our school were thrilled to be announced as winners of the North West Area Dublin City Council Better Neighbourhood Award (School Section). The school won the competition based on recycling initiatives, clean-up days and our new school garden. We will continue to make our school environment more beautiful this year.
